seabattical

I am thinking of placing my boat in charter. I am looking for good and bad information about "seabattical"; which does longer term 1-4 week charters in a small fleet in BVI et al. There is a 2010 thread that is generally positive, so I am looking for more recent information, please.

Re: seabattical

Hello Simpson and welcome to this forum. I've visited Seabaticals site and think its a good idea. I'm not sure about their success and approach. IMO, a "long" term charter starts at 4 weeks. I'd personally like to find a few individuals who would charter Palarran for 4 to 6 weeks per year on a multi-year basis. The cost per week would be probably 60% less than a week by week with a regular charter company. But the problem is the buy in cost. I'd have to spend a week minimum before I'd pass over the helm to someone. What do you have for a boat? Would it be easy to charter with a regular charter company? If not, I doubt many would charter it through Seabattical.

If your seriously looking for long term bareboat charters you could post here, place an ad with cruising world, and create a website of your own to accomplish that goal.
