Say I Got a Good Deal on Chartering - Would Anyone Go???

Ok, as many of you know I have been boatless for a few months. You know what???

It stinks!

I am itching to go sailing again and what better time than when it's winter to go to Tortola (Caribbean)?

If I organized some charter boats for say... the last week of February and first week of March and got us a good deal, would anyone be interested in going?

I was thinking of having one week for couples and another week for singles.

My primary objective will be to keep costs down, so it's not out of reach for people.

Any possible takers??

I didn't mention - these are BAREBOAT charters so we can all work on our skills.

I may have asked this question incorrectly, judging by the response.

Are people too busy to sail?

Not interested in the destination?

Bad weeks suggested?

Don't want to see a bunch of Cruisers Forum members in person?

Think I smell bad? ha ha

Any other reason this isn't sounding good?

Well, it does look like we are chartering at least one bareboat cat based on the mostly private responses I'm getting from people....

Cost? That goes down with the number of people we can muster up.

Any other dates better for anyone? Please do input whatever you would like to this thread.

I'm trying to work that up right now, Wheels. I'd say your airfare might not be so cheap, but certainly the charter rate will be below what is normally charged, as I'm working a group package rate out right now.

Any preference as to multi vs. mono? I seem to be hearing from a lot more people who want to charter multis from this post...

Those times are bad for me. Isn't that always the case? I have four weekends tied up in Feb/Mar and one that has not been "announced" yet, but I know is coming.

I am interested in sharing a cat but the wife wants the kids along and that means me taking three cabins which means I get to rent the whole dang cat!!!

I am continually trying to find a way to rent just one cabin with just her and share a boat. She is the "wall" so far.

Hey Sean,

It wouldn't take much arm twisting to get me to leave the cold.

Keep me posted on what you find.

Don't care if it's cat or mono. I don't think Airfares would actually be the big expense. Form stories I have heard, I imagine the charter will be the cruncher for me.

If it were after tax season I would consider it. My wife is a CPA and we always take a vacation right after tax season so she can wind down. I would feel a little hesitant about going with people who I have never met though. A big fast cat would probably be fun.

Isn't THAT the truth! And besides, meeting new people with totally diverse backgrounds can be great...the people on our original Moorings flotilla were great. I'm wanting to put together three other couples for a bareboat Lagoon 440 charter in the BVI this spring but sometimes getting the crew, time, flights, provisioning and boat arranged is more work than I wish it was and just signing up for a cabin on a crewed charter is sounding better all the time!
