Sailing in Blue, Lefkas, Greece - Yacht charter

Hi, we are planning to charter a yacht, bareboat, from Lefkas this summer. I am considering a charter firm called Sailing in Blue (www.sib.gr).
They have been very responsive and helpful, but I can't find any reviews or recommendations since 2009 other than testimonials on their own website.
Has anyone had any experience with this company that they can share?
Many thanks

I was hoping for some help on this thread, about to book with them but can't find any reviews, and it's 2024. At least they're still in business....

Re: Sailing in Blue, Lefkas, Greece - Yacht charter

Hi Keelhauled
We chartered from Sailing in Blue in 2018. I couldn't find any reviews on them then. I wouldn't recommend them if you have a choice. The yacht we chartered was 5 or 6 years old, but had been very poorly maintained. Several items failed during the week. The main one was the cable for one of he steering wheels failed. We radioed them, and they could have sent someone by speedboat to repair it on the water, but they refused. They wanted us to return to base, which after 2 days sailing would have ruined our week - 2 days to return, the repair time and another 2 days to get back to where we were. So we elected to continue with one wheel. They told us with some delight that our insurance was now invalid. We had another issue where we got salt water in the outboard (our fault). Instead of charging us to flush the engine (standard practice) they claimed we had to pay for a brand new outboard to replace the 10 year old unit they gave us. We spent half a day arguing with them on our return and ended up paying an exhorbitant repair cost. They might be a bit cheaper, but I'd recommend paying a bit more for quality service. I'd never use them again.

Re: Sailing in Blue, Lefkas, Greece - Yacht charter

I wanted to follow up on this thread. We ended up chartering through Georgia at Sailing In Blue. She was really responsive on communication and very helpful. I don't know If she's just a charter agent or if SIB was out of cats, because she met us at the Istion office at Alimos Marina. We had a 2020 Lagoon 42 with water maker, AC & generator for 5300 euros. Boat was in great shape, and I really liked the Istion crew.

Georgia met us back at the Istion office on the return day as well.

The last rentals in this forum were from 2018, so I wanted to give an update for our experience 7 years later. Also, if you look up SIB's google reviews, they're all pretty positive.

Hope that helps!

Greg
