Sailing from Beaufort NC to Masonboro Inlet, Inside or out?

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on making this trip and what your preferences are. I have a Sabre 28 and am considering going down that way for a few days. What are your experiences anchoring in Banks channel?

There's lots of room to anchor at Wrightsville Beach. The only problem is that there is a strong current there which often opposes the wind so you need a fair amount of room between boats. Most boats anchor near the low bridge and there's a spot to land a dink there. Of course whether you go inside or out depends on the weather. The inlet is straightforward.
