Re: Sailing and seamanship movies
Great list of movies. Many I had never heard of. I remember seeing Dove only a year or so after long Pacific crossings in a boat of similar size, and seeing the cabin at night with the kerosene light swaying, it gave me cold chills up my back. Of course seeing the scene of him throwing the anchor over the bow, I thought Hollywood horse pucky, but the movie was great.____Grant.

Re: Sailing and seamanship movies
Glad to see Captain Ron and Dove made the list. I have watched them many times onshore and offshore.

Re: Sailing and seamanship movies
I'm surprised "Down Periscope" wasn't on the list. One of the funniest movies I've seen (IMO).

Re: Sailing and seamanship movies
Great list; thanks. Since you've included The Wackiest Ship in the Army, I would suggest Mister Roberts- the wonderful 1955 comedy/drama starring Henry Fonda, Jack Lemmon, and James Cagney ( Mister Roberts (1955 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

"Pandora and the Flying Dutchman," with James Mason and Ava Gardner. Since they're stretching it a bit...

Re: Sailing and seamanship movies
Don't forget to add "I sailed to Tahiti with an all girl crew". Came out in 1968, a comedy but some good sailing in it.
edit: How could we forget Hold Fast, Voyage of the SV Pestilence?
