True, but some onboard faults can be found by a multimeter or a test light as described in "The 12-volt bible" and Nigel Calder's books, I went through a long and arduous process to find a fault on my boat.

To the OP, check a similar thread I started 2 years ago -

Sorry, I thought the topic was galvanic corrosion.

Re: Sacrificial anodes going way too fast

I had a similar problem and it was the shore power inlet and panel.
Failing that I’d back track any higher voltage additions to the boat. Where people pick up power and ground it are often wrong.
Residential stuff like TVs which have transformers which run when the TV is off.
If the green wire from installing home wiring to a 120V TV comes anywhere near the ground it will cause problems. Microwave with a clock is always on.

You do realize that the "green wire" is a grounding conductor and that it is supposed to be joined to boat ground. I'm sure you also realize the AC has nothing to do with corrosion.

Yes the green wire is the earth ground.
As to AC not causing corrosion I’ll just post one paper on it. There are several good ones. It’s typically cause by the issues I previously mentioned.

That article does not claim AC current causes corrosion. In fact Steve contradicts you in that article ...

Steve writes ... "It should be noted that there is very little evidence to support the commonly held belief that stray AC current can cause corrosion. All the stray-current corrosion examples I have seen in my experience have, without exception, been direct-current induced."

I have some training and education in these matters. You may wish to read my explanation of corrosion involving electricity in boats Electrolysis, Stray Current, Galvanic Corrosion on boats explained
