Thunder Bay is the logical point of entry to the Lakes?

Thunder Bay is known as The Lakehead, so yes. You'd have to arrange with either the Thunder Bay Yacht Club or McKellar
Marine to receive and
lift your
boat in. The TBYC has a travel
lift for its members, but I'm sure they'd accommodate you (for a price). McKellar has a crane or perhaps hires a crane (I was a club
member so not 100 sure what they have).
Thunder Bay is in
Canada, as is Vancouver. I imagine it might be simpler to stick to either
Canada or the
USA when trucking, but if you wanted to go into the States, another location would be Duluth/Superior, or even places along the (US) south shore like Bayfield.
Good luck. It's quite the journey you have planned.
