Repurpose old sails...?
I have a new suit of sails for the P34 but now I have to get rid of the old ones as they're not worth keeping. What are some options for old sails? I don't want to send to the landfill...
Thx,

Re: Repurpose old sails...?
We use them for raking leaves. They hold up much longer than other tarps do. Maybe a landscaper you know could use them.

Re: Repurpose old sails...?
There's a country in the Caribbean that has workers who repurpose old sailcloth into things like carry bags and tool rolls, and outdoor shades. Someone from the east coast of the US will be able to give you contact details. If I understand correctly, you would have to ship them.

Re: Repurpose old sails...?
Every boat show I've been to had a booth or two selling carry bags made of used sails and rope. At the next local show just talk to those people.

I'm not aware of any, in Montreal, but ...
Sail Canada partners with LI/NE, a Canadian company that recycles old sails and turns them into bags.

SeaBags and a few others turn them into bags, you can also make your own if you sew

Re: Repurpose old sails...?
Like others, I've turned them into luggage.
It's good to be cautious, though, since sun-rotted dacron tends to rip in airport baggage-handling situations.
