Ramp launching a Catalina 22

Hi Friends
Plans changing again
With the help of the good folks here I had been developing cruising plans
And boat purchase plans
For the winter of 2015, but a new Titanium Hip and the resultant medical
Bills (and I'm insured ) are gonna put those on hold for a bit
Amazing how fast a boat kitty goes if you need body parts in America.
So my plan now is to get ASA certified and charter & crew
I know how to sail but it seems to me that the ASA certs are a good thing to have and I can get the first three on a one week learning cruise
Out of Blue Water School in RI. Should be fun.
Now for my question, I have obtained a permit to place a boat on a nearby
lake of about 2500 acres. I can leave the boat there but on land with the rigging
up. So the boat has to be ramp launched every time I use it.
The ramp is 200 feet from my storage slot.
I am considering a Catalina 22 for basically a day sailer.
So even though these are trailer sailors, is it feasible to launch and retrieve
After every sail?
Open to suggestions of other launch and retrieve boats

My last boat was a Catalina 22.
I also had a Chevy Camaro.
That car pulled that boat just fine. Everyone told me it wouldn't do it, but it did. With no problems. Those boats are pretty light.
I could raise my mast and be in the water in around 30 minutes.
I could lower the mast and be driving down the road in about the same amount of time.

I have a 21 foot boat that I launch and retrieve after every sail in the same fashion you describe above. Personally, I think the Catalina 22 is the ideal boat for doing just that and it may very well be my next boat when I decide to move up a step.
It has a bit of a cabin, while being small enough to trailer easily. I would even consider doing some coastal cruising in the Catalina 22.

The hard part of trailer sailoring is putting up and taking down the mast - so having it in dry-storage with mast up a few hundred feet from the launch site is great. Put the sails up - and away you go!

I'd even consider a swing keel Catalina 25. They are nearly as easy to launch and recover plus they have a bunch more room for weekending. If not, the 22 is a great boat. That was my first one way back in the early 80s.

Good luck on the hip replacement. It does take some recovery time so you might not be bouncing around on a boat real soon after the surgery. My friend has one. He's sailing well now but it took a bit of time before he was "back in the saddle."
