Thank you to everyone for your information, it has helped greatly. We are looking at departing August and arriving September, with a few stops to break the trip up. Hopefully this will keep the good weather up top and slightly better weather down south.

Hi Kevin.
I realise this was a long time ago but keen to hear how it all went. Weve just sailed from Townsville to Darwin and are leaving early Sept to do the leg from Darwin to Perth.
Weve done it before but the "right" way. Any advice appreciated!

We have sailed down the WA coast from Darwin to Busselton and return in our Lagoon 420.
Don't be put off by the scaremongers. If you pick your weather windows this can be a fantastic cruising experience. We mostly day sailed with the odd overnight if needed.
