What does the Admiral say, on the subject of 'plonkets'?

A shoddy job by Smyth.

Just as blanket means a small [-et meaning small, trivial) un-dyed coarse woollen thingie [from blanc = white, standing in for un-dyed], so plunket (plonket is a variant) means small lead-coloured woollen thingie [from Old French plonquie, with the colour of lead; from Latin plumbum, lead; from where we also get the idea of plumbing, using lead pipes to deliver water somewhere].
