Percy Anchorage....

I'm looking for some first hand experience with the Percy Anchorage at the south end of the Northumberland Channel, Gabriola Island. I'm looking for a convenient place to anchor overnight before a scheduled haul out the next day. Other than an overhead power line (26 m clearance - ample...) I can't find much. NavX marks it as an anchorage but there's little mention I can find elsewhere.

I'm hoping to avoid the seasonal Newcastle Island / Nanaimo gong-show. I've heard that boats over 30' are pretty much verboten on the buoys and there's no room left for anchoring anyway...

Cheers & thanks in advance.

Rob

Re: Percy Anchorage....

I've anchored there waiting for the tide in Dodd Narrows before ... worked fine for an overnight.

Re: Percy Anchorage....

I anchored there overnight late last September on my way down from Alaska. There were a few (3 or 4?) smaller boats anchored there that all seemed to be unoccupied. I was the only boat with anyone on board as far as I could tell.

I had a 06:00 tide to catch to pass through Dodd Narrows and it was very convenient from this anchorage which was less than a mile away.

I anchored in about 30 feet of water which was quite a treat for me.
