I wonder if it is the same guy who plays loud music to annoy anchored boats? Maybe this is his new idea. Goodness is an anchored boat (by cruisers) really that bad one has to go to this extreme.

Now that's cutting off your nose to spite your face! He doesn't like the sight of cruisers in front of his house, so he tows a bunch of derelicts boats there instead. Brilliant!

Just anchor there anyway, a few more boats won't make much difference either way.

Re: Owner puts boats to block anchorage in Miami

There are extensive threads on CF about this situation. The homeowner, Karlton, is a big wig in town and has been using the local police as tools enforcing his harassment against cruisers who seek to anchor in front of his house. The Lasers have been there since 2012. I'm amazed that this is still going on.

Typical Miami waterfront homeowner. Those douchebags have a history of thinking the water behind their homes is also their private property. They have spent decades trying to get rid of boaters. Unfortunately Dade county government is extremely corrupt and easily paid off so these homeowners often get what they want. I highly doubt the gvt will tow the derelict boas away and allow cruisers into the area.

Re: Owner puts boats to block anchorage in Miami

It's people like him who are behind pushing through new Florida legislation to allow municipalities to prohibit anchoring near residential property. This morning I posted the survey result links that will probably be the guidelines for the new laws in the survey post in the "regulations, ...red tape" forum. The survey results was released by FWC yesterday Anchoring Survey Results (or if you care to also suffer my commentary, the links are here, too: Florida anchoring survey results are now available | General | Waterwayguide.com News Updates)

Crosis,
Why not simply confiscate the "douchebags" homes and give them to "The People" thereby negating any future problems from these rapacious, wealthy homeowners? "The People" always know better than any private citizen since they represent the general good and humble masses. Then, you could allow whomever wanted to anchor in that area (with any vessel) unlimited access. And, who better to represent the people than those selfsame government officials mentioned above who have been elected to promote the public good. I really think you're on to something here . . . Power to the People! Comrade Rognvald--Illinois Chapter of the Red Brigade

Re: Owner puts boats to block anchorage in Miami

Hmm...looks like he beat the complaining cruisers using their own game...???

Anchoring rights apply to any/all, correct???

So, now he's the bad guy for taking your anchor spot?

Re: Owner puts boats to block anchorage in Miami

I think there's more of a issue that he should do it the same, lawn solar is not a legal anchor light according to fmp and I don't think there registered

If the non-motor powered vessel is less than 16 feet in length, it is not required to be registered or titled.
