I'm sure that the selection folks in admin have noted your volunteering. If they should select you, I reckon you will be notified.

Meanwhile, we'll continue with back slapping and group thinking, for it's good fun and almost makes up for having to deal with certain posters.

Jim
Complaining about doing something you volunteered to do and enjoy doing obviously makes sense to you. Cool!

Enjoy!

TP, I gotta say, after reading a few of your comments here, you have shown yourself completely unfit to be a moderator. Jim has given more to this community, and to cruisers in general, than almost anyone I know.

For the record, I was not complaining about the moderator's duties as they now stand. I was stating that I would not support major changes to the forum's rules and operation that would materially increase not just my work load but all the other moderators' as well.

You seem determined to denigrate our efforts, mine in particular. I don't wish to "hang it up" right now, so I'm gonna ignore your directive.

You may now have the last word...

Re: OP etiquette: should CF be more professional?

just as a FYI

It's pretty easy to chose not to read a thread, ignore it and make it never even visible to you, and to ignore posters (that one doesn't work as well except on the app). It is pretty normal for me to subscribe to threads after the first day once I can tell it isn't going anywhere new or has just drifted off to somewhere else

and then there's the ultimate method, don't open the webpage to start with

Good for you, Mike. After seeing the logic and self awareness you've displayed on this forum I don't respect your opinion, either.

Feel free to place me on ignore.

It's not the first time you've said it, as I made clear in my post.

If you don't want to be pulled up for it, don't say it. It's really your call.

Please, enlighten me on where my logic or “self awareness” has been faulty . This should be fun.

You had a hissy fit and tried to ignore your own comments last time I pointed it out to you... So, nah, it just goes round in circles.

It's in my nature to call out people who moralise yet indulge in the same behaviour they moralise about and also to give back the level of respect I'm given.

That's a lofty achievement with some of the entertaining characters that frequent these here pages.

Especially ironic in a thread so idealistically calling for better etiquette

Hmm, there is a reason I have a day job, to keep the wolves at bay

To those who are not sure, all the moderators are unpaid volunteers and we all have our own yachts to maintain and sail, families and some, kids.

Also, thank you to those who have commented favourably on the team beavering away in the back ground, keeping the peace. It's not always perfect but we do try. John61's comment about herding cats made me smile

We also deal with the nasty spammers. CF has special rooms modeled on the Tower of London dungeons and manned by the Catholic Inquisition. After confession they are excommunicated for life to a Siberian Gulag.

For those interested today's stats for CF which are available at the bottom of the main forums page:
