I have just returned from a very quick two day trip to the Oriental area of Pamlico Sound. I'm thinking of taking my
boat there from
Florida in July, for the rest of the summer and possibly the
winter.
It looks like a very fine protected cruising ground, and nice to see a predominance of sailboats for a change, instead of the roar of stink-pots.
I would like to ask for observations from anyone
living aboard in the Sound, on all aspects of the area.
We would like to find a marina base, and were pleased to hear prices less than half what we are paying in
Florida. We won’t be
living aboard all the time, but from the base we want go exploring whenever we can, maybe for a month at a time.
My schooner draws 6’6” so I know this will limit us somewhat, but there are still a lot of rivers and cuts we can get into.
Thanks in anticipation JR
