You can extend the range by skipping the beam off the water!

I admit, some of the Youtube channels make the Vagabond lifestyle so appealing. As a dreamer here, there is no way I would do this without a couple of course under my belt, some day sails to get comfortable, and a solid plan and working engine to boot.

It’s like flying. It’s easy do to when the conditions are great and nothing breaks.

When things go south? Not having that experience to draw on will kill you.

Re: Oh wow. Abandoned boat.

How wide did he set his anchor alarm that he drifted a distance before he woke up?

I like to set mine very tight, even though I sometimes get false alarms.

Having an anchor alarm go off is a good reason to go up, and look around, and do a hand bearing check.

"The trip was a one-shot thing,” Bialk said. “It was a much shorter trip (than planned) and far more exciting than I ever hoped for.”

Completely irresponsible and ignorant.

And you know what, guys? We're gonna be hearing more of them...

Probably right on this LW. Given the huge uptick in boat sales of all types, including cruising-level vessels... And given the "reality show" perspective of most (not all) Tuber-cruisers... I bet you're right .

I hope as vaccines continue to dampened down the pandemic, that we can get back to some semblance of normalcy. We gotta get these people back to spending their play money on safer forms of entertainment like organized travel, Club Med and Carnival Cruises.

The upside of that is it's super easy to heat up Hot Pockets next to the radome...

I too wonder what was in the ammo cans. Overall, didn't look like a 'bad' boat, per se.

My greatest fear is being "that guy".

Kind of a weird story though. Usually it begins, "Florida Man..."

Did you guys (y'all) see the link inside the article about a missing New England sailor? Could be suspicious, but I'm not sayin' nothin'.
