pirate Offshore Oil Drilling : new drilling zones approved, maps?

Hi Folks,

I found the two attached maps detailing offshore oil drilling zones from api.org as of February 2017 via API, which appears to be a members consortium for companies seeking drilling access using an intermediate to the US government. Has anyone seen them?

I looks like a great deal of offshore drilling was extended from Florida up to North Carolina and organizations are trying to get access waters up to New England.

Appreciate if you've found more information on where the proposed platforms will be and any current ones. Also any guidance on where to find more information on the sites.

Thank you,
Nick

For information on offshore infrastructure, leases, etc in the USA, the BOEM is a good place to start ...

A database of past and present platforms is available here:

https://www.data.boem.gov/Platform/P...s/Default.aspx

you'll want to search for platforms with no removal date to get a list of current ones.

This is a leasing plan. They're done every 5 years...sometimes more frequently. There's a public process, too, to make your feelings known. Check out the BOEM website under the link for "National Program."

There will no no infrastructure being installed anytime soon. First comes seismic surveying, followed by feasibility studies, then drilling plans are filed, followed by proposed pipeline routes.......what I’m trying to say is that the soonest I’d expect any platform installations anywhere would be 7-10 years following the date of the lease sales.

You would get a better idea from looking at a map of the continental shelf, rather than the territorial waters. That graphic is somewhat misleading.

(excess detail deleted)

In a "virgin" area, you might eventually seem some exploration wells going in. These are basically expensive science projects that may or may not lead to any subsequent production.
