Noumea yacht maintenance facilities

Hi all,

This question has probably been done to death, but I’m not that smart to search threads on here…..so here goes. We are considering buying a yacht in Noumea, New Caledonia as foreign nationals (Australian) and looking for recommendations for the following marine trades/services:
1. Rigger
2. Marine electrical and electronics
3. Diesel mechanic
4. Boat yard for basic haulout services
5. Ships agent to handle necessary documentation transfer and fees etc
6. Anyone else you might think would be handy to know

There is a big yard in the west end of Baie de Moselle (easy, longish walk to town services). The War Museum is in walking distance, and we found it informative.

Note, all the bays around Noumea are presently closed to swimming, for a year, due to a shark killing a swimmer.

Marina Moselle can put you in touch with folks who help with non French speakers, and would certainly be able to recommend an agent. You will also have to deal with insurance, and arranging to export the boat when it is ready to leave. It should be a pleasant trip back from New Caledonia, too bad about the swimming ban. It is easy to arrange laundry from Marina Moselle.
