Not sure how to go about this

Hi guys,

Last year I have proudly become owner of a Beneteau Oceania 411. I do not have enough time to use it regularly enough and therefore it stays at the pontoon doing nothing.

I am toying with the idea to sell a half share of the boat. Another reason for this is to share the expenses that come with keeping the boat, pontoon, etc.

What do you guys think? Any bewares?

Looking forward for your comments.

I'm sure there are successful co-ownership examples but it is a business relationship and therefore an iron clad contract will be required to protect both parties and the assets.
On a personal note I would never share a living space with strangers. Nor would I expect a co-owner to treat my toys as well as I do. Good luck.

Think about putting the boat up for charter with some company if you are years away from being able to use it frequently. Otherwise sell it. Under use generally causes deterioration problems and may cause huge repair costs.

Although..... I have a friend who keeps a boat in Newport RI. He lists it on air bnb and covers the costs that way. Blocks out select weekend, keeps the cost high enough to keep the clientele more high end. I think he's nuts but it works for him.
