Unless you have four big crew on rail you should be reefing by 14-15 knots if beating. ON reach you can spill some wind off main with traveler out and you can run up to 20K. but life will be better if you reef early. Good luck
Do you ever tow a tender? We hate anything slowing us down but will need something for when we get to the islands (block, fishers, MV, ack)

Made it to NYC! Heading thru hells gate to Long Island Sound tomorrow! I've been keeping note around marinas, fuel consumption, mast stepping at hop o nose marina etc. hell of a trip this far. Almost 300 miles in 5 days! Time to have fun in the islands of the sound then on to MV and ACK!

A nice journey so far. Continued to Greenwich, fishers Island and now at block island. A bit of weather rolling through but once it clears it looks like cuttyhunk will be our next stop!

Re: New J100 - Rhode Island to Lake Champlain. Anyone Sailed it?

We are in Block also. The weather should start to improve later thin morning. If you hang around until Saturday, there is a Lobster Bake sponsored by the Lion's club that is a really nice event.

It does look like it should clear around 12/1. We shot in town this am after a wet dinghy ride to shore

Heading out at 1 but the lobster bake is tempting!! If you are on a hook and need anything let us know before we head back out. We are on mooring ball #9!

Made it to Martha's Vineyard 2 days ago around 11:30PM. Crazy how strong the current was heading in. 3-4knots... Had 2 great days on island then sailed out at 9:30 this morning for an amazing close hauled **** for 4 1/2 hours through the shoals. Then around the can at Madaket and a beam reach into the channel. 16-22knot winds. 8+ knots boat speed. What a cap to an awesome 2 weeks. Lots of details and tips to share.

Happy sailing Captains!
