Re: New guy, first sailboat, first trip will be from Dana point to King harbor
Another possibility is to go via Avalon, since you are planning two days anyway. It's my preferred route going up and down the coast. Get some better sailing angles and avoid the main part of the shipping lanes. Dinner in Avalon as well since you don't need a dinghy to get on shore with the shore boats at the ready.

Re: New guy, first sailboat, first trip will be from Dana point to King harbor
Hey thanks for your posting. It brings back great memories!! I have sailed those waters many times and have enjoyed every minute. The only problems we ever had were the scary, fast moving tankers and tugs towing barges at night. You can hardly get out of their way as they are moving fast! Stay along the shore line from the LA light toward the west. Remember "red light right returning". Be sure you have an anchor in case the wind and motor both die. Been there done that. ENJOY!!

Galley is like the 25, tucked aft to port. Yes, they're both to port. The 30 has an athwartships galley with a double sink. All of them had quarterberths.

As long as you don't move, right?
Kidding, I had a one owner boat Catalina 25 in San Diego with outboard and did no real work for 4 years. Improvements to dishes, blankets, no work except cleaning. No work for 4 years. Boat sold for 5 k under I paid. I would say, saved me money and I never had a greater view.

If that's the only visible issue, I'd be concerned about all the other through-hulls that aren't in plain sight.
As well as the state of the seacock, there's the matter of the single hoseclamp, and the hose type.

Got to see the bottom at the yard yesterday. It's perfect. No blisters and all the rest of the thruhulls look perfect.
The place it's at right now is a bit pricy so I'll wait till November and take it to cabrio to do all the rest.

It's not the thru hulls, it's the valves connected to them. Are the rest like the picture?
Otherwise, she looks great.
Good luck.

No. That's the intake to the motor. All the rest are still good and plugged up from the outside.

Plugged up from outside? Is that something the po did to protect them since it wasn't getting used?
