New Bern to St. Catherines

greetings everyone from Sunbury, Ga.
I will be picking up my new 299 Seidelmann in New Bern on Dec. 23. (friday unfortunately so I will be spending the first night at the dock) but come saturday will be heading out. Planning on taking my time and arriving at Hilton Head, for New years Eve. Anyone going to be in the area and or know of a good marina with a good New Years Eve Party for the over 40 crowd?

Congrats on the new boat. Why Hilton Head? Charleston would be much more fun, and easier to get into/out of.

Congrats on new boat.

It's good you'll be spending Friday night at the dock. It's bad luck to begin a voyage on a Friday :-)

Have fun,

Bill

Re: New Bern to St. Catherines

I want a short sail home on new years day. I have to go to work on Jan 2nd. From the south end of HH to Sunbury is about 45 miles.

I will be Stopping in Charleston the day before.

I know Bill, I have learned the hardway too many times that you never leave on a friday, you're just asking for issues!!!

Yeh. Stop in Charleston instead. Stay at Charleston Maritime Center on the Cooper River. That puts you in easy walking or pedicab distance of dozens of fabulous restaurants and bars in downtown Charleston. The trouble will be deciding where to go!

I'm there now. Inexpensive, free laundry, walking distance to everything. Large Harris Teeter grocery store just down the street. However, not well protected, and very bumpy, but you get used to it...

Or River Street in Savannah. I doubt you'd get any sleep tied up there New Year's Eve.
