Re: Need Name Ideas

What's the consensus on renaming a boat.
I thought it was as lucky as your wife meeting your mistress

Re: Need Name Ideas

It's all superstition. The same as breaking a mirror or walking under a ladder. No scientific proof that anything bad will happen if you rename your boat.
I will rename my next boat if it has a bad name. If your superstitious maybe you don't want to rename her. It's all personal choice.

Over 8,313 boat names submitted by your fellow boaters are included in this directory. Surely there's something here that might fit!

Interesting. Boat US lists the top ten boat names for each of the past 20 years. "Serenity" made it to the top ten in 12 of those years.

There is no consensus

I guess in the old days of wooden commercial sailing ships changing the name may have signified something in the past - trying to leave a bad reputation behind (nowadays I think it is called rebranding ) - maybe that half the last crew died of Typhus ..........

If you send me the old name, and the new name all wrapped up in a $100 note I will make sure that the name change is acceptable to whatever Woo you are concerned with.

That's outrageous! I can provide the same service for $50 a pop.

I don't even own a boat but I tend to agree with this statement, unless the current name really sux!

If I am ever lucky enough to buy a new yacht I'll name her Sea Cup. The dingy will be yellow and black and named Bee Cup. See how many people figure it out.

Re: Need Name Ideas

Coming up with a new name for your boat is very personel. Leave it alone and it will show up one day.

I presently have a name for my new (to me, to be) boat, but I have a feeling when I finally find her the name might change.

Exactly why I don't really want to go there. I'm not one to follow any crowd.

To everyone else THANK YOU for your suggestions. I plan to sit down tonight on the name challenged boat and see what if anything we agree on. It may just be she keeps her 'blah' name. I don't want to force anything on her that doesn't fit. SC
