Just a quick note pertaining to the chain plate issue.

Unless the chainplates are compromised enough to be detected at the tangs, a surveyor will not be able to determine their condition.

The IP factory has tried all forms of NDT (non destructive testing) and have yet been able to accurately determine their condition.
Hence their stance to replace because of age.

Average replacement cost is around $10k.

It is generally agreed that only a 1/4 of the replaced chain plates really needed to be replaced.

Lastly, fresh water boats, for the most part, don't have the same issues.
But just because she's in fresh water now, doesn't mean that shes never seen saltwater.
