? Navigation Charts for Leeward Islands French Polynesia

Bareboating with Sunsail in September and would like to have good navigational charts prior to the trip to have a feel for the area -- Have bareboated many years in the BVI and understand the many differences -- Can't seem to locate a source for good paper navigational charts of the area -- any sources and/or other tips?

I assume the charter boat will have all charts onboard (?).

BTW The way the lateral marking system as used out there is ...errrr... very lateral!

And beware the marker may be way off the edge of the reef too: keep eye on the water and give them quite some berth if you are not limited on the open water side.

Did not notice this differentiation then. Obviously, due to my very poor French.

See if you can locate a tourist bureau or maybe the charter company and get them to send you post cards with aerial views of the major passes and lagoons. Dont laugh , it was a great addition to the regular charts when I was there, and many other cruisers used them also. I had the charts from the French hydrographic office, but many of them were from surveys of 150 years ago. When you buy chart kits that have aerial photos everyone says they are great, but see the look in their eyes when you say, Oh I Navigate By Post Cards! Have a wonderful trip.____Grant.
