Re: Missing Sailor
Just the AP report...FWC found his dinghy tangled with one of the Dinner Key moorings with his keys, wallet and cell phone in it: MIAMI (AP) The Coast Guard is searching in Biscayne Bay outside Miami for a missing sailor who was a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic sailing team.
Coast Guard officials in Miami say they received a report Thursday evening about an unmanned inflatable dinghy adrift in Dinner Key. Items belonging to 30-year-old Trevor Moore were onboard.
Moore is from Naples and was last seen wearing a dark shirt and swim shorts.
The Coast Guard issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast for boaters to be on the lookout for a possible person in the water.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue, Miami-Dade police and the National Park Service are assisting in the search.

US Olympic sailor missing
Heard a very short blurb on the news tonight that Trevor Moore, a member of the 2012 US Olympic sailing team is missing. His dingy with wallet and other personal items was found off Dinner Key in Miami. Nothing more on the net.
Anyone know anything more?

Re: Missing Sailor
This incident is extremely strange, to me. I don't know anyone who removes his keys and wallet to ride in a RIB. Weird! And not looking too good as to outcome, either.

Remove wallet and keys to jump in the water and then something goes wrong?

Re: Missing Sailor
Or remove wallet and keys to inspect fouled prop or rudder.

Maybe to put the wallet and keys in a bag to keep them dry?

So far all the news reports I've read (for what that's worth) mention only a dinghy and nothing about a sailboat. Anyone know if there was a sailboat or if he was just going out in the dink for a ride?
Yes it all sounds odd and doesn't look good.

Re: Missing Sailor
I heard the CG called off the search a few days ago. Just googled for updates and found a report the family continued searching but called off their own searches yesterday.
No comments or theories on whether it was an accident or something else.
