Mid cockpit traveller + Bimini?

Hello

Looking to purchase smaller offshore boat....quiet a few seem to have mid-cockpit sheeting.

Would really like a full bimini and (somehow connected) dodger.

So what is the best idea? 2 separate stand-alone structures with a zip-out panel between them for times when motoring and anchoring?

Ideas?

Re: Mid cockpit traveller + Bimini?

What you describe is what I have seen. The zip out panel works.
But I’m not a fan of mid-cockpit sheeting because:
Broken limbs because in the way
The Bimini issue you have described

I’m not a fan of some features of the boat I presently own either.

But all boats are compromises and the traveler location is one of those compromises.
I have never been aboard a perfect boat.

Re: Mid cockpit traveller + Bimini?

I have mid cockpit sheeting on my boat, and would never consider buying a boat with it again for the reasons dfelsent mentions. It is both dangerous and always in the way. Mostly just bruised shins, but I have been hit twice and lucky I was not seriously hurt.
