I'm INTP. Freedom and separation from the masses. Being a Saggi, it's the journey you enjoy. Once you've arrived, it times to plan on leaving.

INFJ -
A good number of people have apparently posted but not checked off the poll. It popped up at the beginning when I first clicked on this topic but perhaps others missed it. I point that out because the poll consists of only 14 responders right now. Seems like a lot fewer than are in the discussion.
I love sailing because of the quiet beauty on the water. Something very focusing about the dynamic of wind, sail and water.
I would of thought mose "S" types would have liked the details. Maybe those are the racers and not in this forum.

Polls don't show on mobile. I'd log on and complete it, but as a P I figure it will take care of itself.

The thread started a couple days ago but I just figured out how to add the poll today. I'm sure people will check back eventually.

Thanks for the link. It's a doctoral thesis with 300 pages. Very impressive. I'll read it over the next year. lol The author calls long term cruisers "the revolt of the advantaged" which I thought was very apt. Most subcultures are disadvantaged. The author says most long term cruisers are well educated, their boat may take up a good portion of their net worth but they aren't high income people. Many work for a few months a year to continue cruising.

Ha, does brain damaged count as a personality type?

First hit on my search of MTBI:

Re: Mbti (personality) of sailors

Notes that the current poll, not yet very well populated, has over 50% in the INTs, and nearly 30% in INTJ, a normally 1% factor in the general population.

That confirms my personal observations that a very highly disproportionate level of INTJs are found out there cruising (see prior post in this thread)...

I'm an INTP, though fairly close to being an ENTP. Retired at age 56 and went cruising. Also a Capricorn, if that means anything.

Re: Mbti (personality) of sailors

I could only really respond to the poll section if the option were available to only select one from each pair.

I can select I easily enough. The other three are a wash (50% each), so can't really fill out the rest of it for myself...

Re: Mbti (personality) of sailors

Test says I'm ENTP but I've learned to keep my mouth shut... most of the time anyway so I count my self as INTP.
