Re: Marina in New Bern destroyed, which one?

the surge in Oriental was 9.5ft not 8.5ft.. I think a simple typo..

its not possible to compare surges between Flo and Mathew.. why?
wind direction.. Flo blew the water up the Neuse River for days.. Mathew didn't. not that Mathew didn't cause problems. we left our boat in the marina during mathew..no problems.. so stay or leave..it depends..

Flo covered the pilings in my marina with water..thankfully all boat were out of the marina..

one the hard...
just look at Duck Creek Marina..not far from New Bern..many boat on stands floated off.. or blown off? I have friend whose boat was tied up in Duck Creek..no problems..those on the hard..not so lucky

just my thoughts.

That is true. A friend's 40' Catalina, along with about 9 other boats floated away during the storm. His boat, a large cat and a steel barge fought each other as they blew across the Neuse River ending up aground on some RR tracks. What the storm and barge did not destroy, in order to clear the tracks, the RR company finished off with an excavator. Sad end to a wonderful boat, such a heartbreaking event.
