Re: Marina In Malaysia

Depends on your location and the length of stay.

Do you want to leave the boat for a long time or just to spend some time? Most marina will charges about USD 300 to USD 500 for a 44' mono. Usually they will have a slip for couple of days but a bit tough for long term stay.

Some name comes up but they are not exhaustive, so do your google and on youtube.

South:

Puteri Harbour - good security
Danga Bay - basic facilities
Sebana Cove Resort - isolated

Port Dickson - Admiral Cove

Port Klang, Pulau Indah Marina - very secluded
Port KLang, Royal Selangor Yacht Club - has a very mechanic/ship wright ss work Martin Grimley, slipway and hard stand for members' boat

North -

Lumut - 2 marinas, one has a sea lift

Penang Island - Next to the bridge, Jabatan Laut Marina, full ( monthly about USD 100 )
Penang Island - Straits Quay, very limited berthing

Pulau Langkawi - Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, next to Kuah town, a bit rolly because it is next to the ferries
Pulau Langkawi - Telaga Harbour, very popular marina. usually full. can drop anchor outside. Dinghy can come up to the dockside and use shower for nominal charges
Pulau Rebak - Rebak Marina, haul out with hard stand

East Coast - Pulau Tioman, very limited berthing.

This time of the year, I would stick to Langkawi.

These are the few that comes to my mind for now. Let me know if you need more information.

Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia actually just checked thats Sutera.

Pulao Tioman has got one, but think not secure.

Must be something in Johore, just over the causeway from Singapore.

There use to be one near Ft Cornwallis, Penang but I was there in March and all pylons had gone, other than allegations of mismanagement, learnt nothing, do not know if going to be rebuilt, but I think not. I saw a hard stand in southern Penang Island from the water once but when I tried to find it by Taxi/bus couldn't find it.

Oceanride007 : "There use to be one near Ft Cornwallis, Penang"

Used to be the Penang Yacht Club but the location was not suitable due to:-
a. big waves
b. strong current
c. strong wind

When I was there some 20 years back, I met a a Caucasian man who claimed to design the place were standing there angry that the location were not he was told.

The pontoon simply break loose and floated away. Some were considered as salvage items found else where.

There is another marina built next to the ferry terminal but the last I saw, the pontoons were all removed. Only the pilings were standing.

That is Batu Maung Slipway, access is via motorola highway all the way south. It is a non touristy route so most likely a bit of challenge.

They handle commercial boats and occasional sailboats.

Anyone heard of Lumut? ericoh mentioned there are two marinas....

Well, I don't know which marina, but we have a friend who's there now, in the anchorage outside marina for around $1.50 per day, and he can dink in and use the facilities. He likes it!

Re: Marina In Malaysia

Raffles Marina on the West side of Singapore is very good, and just across the causeway from Malaysia. Used to be very reasonable 6 years ago when we were there. About SGD$700 per month.
