I have a mahogany ships wheel that came off my Grandfather's boat which is at least 75 years old. I'm starting the process of restoring it to hang on the wall. I have a heat gun and orbital sanders which I've used on the flat facing surfaces. However, the majority of the surface area are the round handles and spokes. Should I use a chemical stripper and a wire brush or just continue with the heat gun and wire brush combined with hand sanding? Advice please.
