My wife and I have been (largely) lurking on this forum for many years. Avid sailors that haven't quite yet made the leap to
liveaboard status but manage to find enough weekends over the summer to average about 2000 nm/year in
New England waters aboard Scappare, our
Catalina 42 . Being trapped in
New England...to get my
winter fix i'm one of the crazies that frostbites all
winter...nothing like sailing 150 races over the winter to keep sharp for the summer
race season!
Anyway, being the sailors that we are we're taking our winter
vacation this year to
Antigua (Nonsuch Bay) to do some beach lounging and dingy sailing. However, my wife observed that purely by coincidence we will be there for the start of the
Race around the
Caribbean. We're going to
head out to watch the festivities but i thought i'd take a flyer and see if any of the members here are planning on being a spectator
boat and wouldn't mind a bit of company as its always better to be on the
water.
I can both offer to buy the
beer (or whatever your preferred libation) and also possibly return the favor if your planning on being in
Newport, RI for the
Volvo Ocean Race (there is a good chance Scappare will be a stake
boat for the inshore race and the start of the
offshore leg...so prime viewing real estate!)
PM me if your interested...always great to meet fellow sailors!
