Re: Look who arrived today in the neighborhood!

Does anyone think there is a discrepancy between the bow wave and the weather conditions in the video? All the speedboats are running without busting waves but he is pushing a 6 foot (guess) bow wave . Sails up yes . Sailing not so sure

I was pretty sure it was sails up and motoring, I feel sure it cannot be operated without at least one Diesel gen set running, it may have Azipods and be all electric for all I know.
The sails I'm sure are functional, no Clipper though.
There is some cruise ship that has sails too, don't know anything about it but bet they are more ornamental than functional.

The Helios is just as pretty in person. Got to see her in the water and out at Collona's shipyard.

I'm thinking that trying to deploy and trim those skyscraper-sized sails on any regular basis is going to get some people killed. Imagine what that will do for crew recruitment...

I saw it in person and it is much uglier than the pictures!

I watched the star clipper leave Portugal bound for Tangier the other day, full sail up - looked lovely. Engines might have been on but she was only doing 6 odd knots on AIS so could have been sail alone.

Only way to get killed setting those sails would be to spill coffee on the computer and get thrown overboard.

Just because you can... doesn't mean your should. That boat seems to be a case in point.

Saw it when I came to view my Yacht in Cartagena a month or so ago. Noticed it was back yesterday.

Definitely an acquired taste I think. Certainly not mine. Wouldn't mind a tour though.

When I first saw the promotional pictures I was sure it was a hoax as no-one could possibly build and sell something that ugly.

Granted, it may not pleasing to the eye in a traditional sense - but I find it compelling on many levels and if I had hundreds of millions to spend before I died I would probably tick off plenty of people with my tastes.

I don't think I would want to live in that, but I sure wouldn't mind being invited to a party or spending a week or two on it! I'll have to find who owns it and let them know I'm available to test out what a VIP experience is like.
Maybe that could be a job one could do even. Official "VIP Treatment Assesment" services. Treat me as a VIP and I'll rate and review your services and publish them. lol

I liked this video - it showed so much more of the boat itself.
Reminds me of the yacht I "own" in GTA

Thanks for posting this. Loved the music so Shazhamed it. Turns out it's Hey Brother, Tessa Rose Jackson mix. Have a new tune to play for my rainbow lorikeets, they love it.

I love what the Owner has created in his two last yachts...

Personal and directly oposing design philosophies executed to extremes and definitely meant to tweak the noses of all the purist naysayers who have neither the resources or imagination to accomplish what he can.

It is more a statement about politically correct limitations than anything else and other Owners on his level get it!

Sorry it's just a statement of disgusting opulent excess and bad taste which cannot be improved upon by an escalating bank balance.
