Load Diagrams / Figures

I'm interested in finding load diagrams for the various 'parts' (from spreader to lines to sails to mast to bulkheads) of a sailboat under full canvas and / or while at rest.

Has there been any research into this?

Can I sit on my boom? What direction is the force on my spreaders? What parts of the sail are under stress? What types of forces does the mast exert on the boat?
