Leaving Boat in Lake Montauk

I've got to divide up my sailing plans this summer for the sake of two weddings, one in Mexico and one in Montauk. It would greatly simplify things and increase my cruising range if I could find a place in Montauk (or nearby) to leave my boat for about 10 days from July 15-26.

Does anyone happen to know of an empty mooring, an under-utilized dock, or a club with an affordable weekly rate? My boat would probably be fine just anchored in the lake but I don't feel great about that. I'd be happy to pay but the full transient rate at a local marina might be cost-prohibitive.

Any tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jack

Re: Leaving Boat in Lake Montauk

Is the wedding in Montauk proper? We’ve enjoyed staying in Three Mile Harbor, about 12 miles from Lake Montauk, but the various marinas there may be pricey. You may be able to arrange for someone to keep an eye on your anchored boat for a good deal less, if they don’t offer moorings. On Shelter Island, Coecles Harbor might be less expensive, but more difficult to get to & from: you’d need to take the ferry. Likewise for Shelter Island YC. Greenport and Sag Harbor might be too far away for easy access, though there is always Uber...
