kiwi's and others, please help me... Category 1

Hi I live in NZ and am finding it hard to find information about category 1 boats. Can someone please tell me what is needed to gain this and also what is the minimum size for a boat to be able to be category 1.

The regulations from this year can be downloaded at http://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/Upload/...ling_09-12.pdf or bought at most marine shops.
As far as I know there is no minimum size but there is a requirement that clearance is required which requires a safety inspection. Both can be declined if it is considered the craft, equipment and crew are inadequate for the voyage intended.

Only applies to NZ Registered vessels, if you are a "foreigner" and register offshore yuo can escape it.
