Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
I will miss Jon's many insightful and educational postings, along with reading about his latest sailing adventures. He was definitely a personality in the sailing world, and had recently and very successfully completed the Carib 1500 crewing on a Valiant 40. While I never met him in person, I am saddened and wish the best to his family during this time.

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
Thousands of keen sailors have over the years been following Jon's adventures on Chancy, and his valuable contributions to magazines and forums. As a tribute to this great yachtsman, here is an article published nearly 14 years ago, where he speaks of ''the Winter thaw''

My condolences to his family. He will be missed by the cruising community.

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
Fair winds wherever you are, Jon!
He was a wiseguy, a wiseass, and a wise man. Always had a sense of fun about even the most contentious topics, always had something valuable to add, and always ended with that wink of his. ;-)

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
Sad new, Jon was a great guy.
I was lucky enough to share a harbor with him once out on Nantucket. He knew who I was thorugh another sailing forum and came up and said hi. Instant old friend, since we'd known each other on line for years.
Condolences to his family.
Fair winds, Jon. You'll be missed.

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
To get a sense of the man, I highly recommend this piece he wrote for Cruising World back in 2002, about a solo winter cruise from New Jersey to Maine, and memories of his father. In addition to all his other qualities, he was a heck of a writer.

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
This is never easy... All I can say is he was a man who found the wonders of the sea and sailing and received so much from this. He will be missed. Condolences to all who knew and loved him and will bear this untimely loss.

Re: Jon Eisberg's passing
It's strange that you can miss someone you've never met. As I've told Jon before, he had the best last name ever for where he liked to sail.
Condolences to the family.
