Jester Challenge

This looks like an interesting but possibly dangerous event.

It's a race from the Newport RI Area to the Azores on boats less than 30' for single-handers.

There are few regulations etc.

Has anyone here considered doing this event?

Re: Jester Challenge

And...you can now buy a former Jesters Cup competitor that already knows the way!

The owner is a friend of my mine, who built this little Tiki, circumnavigated, and sailed in the Jesters Cup.

Re: Jester Challenge

Every scheduled offshore race/rally/whatever has an element of risk to it for the simple fact you leave on a schedule independent of the forecast, although more relaxed events are a bit more flexible.

This is sort of a one way trip for those going on to Europe. Getting back would be a real bear.

Actually that is how I stumbled upon this subject.

A guy near here has a boat for sale that he had been prepping for the Jester challenge.

So I research the Jester Challenge a bit.

The boat he was prepping was an old Albin Ballad. Looks like a pretty tough little boat
