I have a I38 cc and would venture to say that they were not actually built for "passagemaking". However they have been sailed across oceans and exist in far flung
ports the world over.........most having been sailed there on their own bottoms. The 38 cc was actually designed and built for the
charter trade in the
Caribbean........for which they were very well suited.
I think that the degree to which the
boat is equipped, and the choosing of proper
weather windows is more of a deciding factor. There will be those that will say that they are "lightly built" and not true "blue water" boats, but then how did they get so far flung???
Just my $0.02.........
