Internal Slab Reefing - with a Bird's Nest in the Boom!
This is only a portion of a nest, stashed ~ 4' in from the end of the spar. It wasn't there a week before, but this time had eggs and all. Took me hours to get all of it out and get all of the blocks working again.
No, I never have been a fan of internal rigging, so no lecture, to me, please.
So, clearly I taped up the opening, because the bird was trying to rebuild! I'm contemplating whether fabricating a permanent end cap - instead of duct tape - is in order.
A boat hook, a hose, and and hour's steady work....

Same thing happened to me several years ago. I just use a piece of foam sponge stuffed into the end of the boom. It weighs nothing, costs nothing. It lasts a couple of years and is a piece of cake to replace.
