A company in RI has told me that they can install foam
deck material on top of my existing
teak decks. The benefits are that it would cost a tiny fraction of replacing the
teak with something like cork, it would provide a cooler
deck surface and add a bit of
insulation, and they claim that if I want to in the future it can be removed without damaging the teak. The teak would probably need to be sanded at that point, but in the time that it is covered, the foam deck would be protecting the teak, preventing wear and aging.
This sounds like a very appealing option, but I can't find anything like this online. Has anyone heard of doing this? Is this a terrible idea? Thoughts?
