Many years ago my brother and I were
racing a small dingy at a club we had never sailed at before. The fleet tacked across the bay, much to our amusment, instead of remaining on course to the mark. We understood why when we found ourselves in the middle of rocks. Somehow we lucked on a
passage through and cleaned up the field.
To this day we still insist it was superior navigating skills.
