Identify this Dinghy!

Here is a challenge. See if you can identify the dinghy in the attached photo. This is the very first time I have seen an all plastic dinghy in the SHAPE of a regular RIB. I met the owner (on his second circumnavigation) and he says it is indestructible, stable, and light, and would not own anything else.

Re: Identify this Dinghy!

I have one almost identical. We bought it from Crystal Bay Yachts in St Pete. Don't think they're still in business. You can actually stand on one of the pontoons without it tipping over.
Love it.

But I don't think it is one.

Portland Pudgy is close, but not quite the same. Interesting idea...

Re: Identify this Dinghy!

Nice feedback everyone. Here is what I do know. This is the tender to s/v UtiopiaII and has a label that says the manufacturer is SBoats made in BRAZIL...

I would love to get my hands on something like this to replace our much-patched AVON Rib.

It looks itty bitty, and what does it weigh?
I have to think those blow up tubes save a lot of weight?

The SBoat is 39 kg while the Whaley is 72 kg. I'm getting the SBoat, lol.

Someone should import these. I'd probably get in line for one.

Love it.
Actually you can stand on the side of a 10 foot Walker Bay with the side pontoons and not tip it over either. I have one of those.

Re: Identify this Dinghy!

I bought one similar that is made out of fiberglass for a couple hundred on Craigslist two years ago. It's 9ft long and shaped like a rib but all glass with a nice rub rail and molded in nonskid all over. Takes a 15hp and no wood in construction. The company claims they will last 30 years. The current owner of the company changed the name to Rigidboats. Made in Florida near Fort Meyers I believe. I love it so far I've had 3 dock neighbors try and buy it now. At 9ft I can stand on one side and it's very stable, also I weigh 230lbs and 6ft2. So that's pretty stable. I hoist it on deck with a spinnaker halyard for long hauls. It is a little beefy being meant to last a long time and all at 180lbs. Has a nice forward anchor locker/seat/ gas can holder molded into the bow and storage in the hulls. Positive floatation when swamped, and it keeps the motor head above water to run it when swamped. Coast guard certified as well! All that being said they are pricey at $9k with a 10hp Tohatsu. But when you figure having to buy 2 or 3 inflatables over the same lifetime of the product it's not bad.

Re: Identify this Dinghy!

The plastic ones being lighter might be better yet. Although repairs might be tough if you find a rock. Either way I feel there is lots of room in the current dinghy market for alternatives.
