Re: ICW without holding tank?
Not sure where you are heading? If I recall, a porta potty is not legal in the Keys . Hey, this could be old info though, and the Keys may not be a stop for you.
How about a bladder? They are flexible and easy to install. We've been using one for 2+years with absolutely no issues.

Butt plugs are not sold in British Chandlers. . . .
Must be an American thing!

Butt plugs are available at any reputable online sex store. A decent one will run you about 20 USD. If you have to make do with what the chandlery has to offer, you could always use a wooden through hull plug. Watch for splinters.

Re: ICW without holding tank?
I bought one of these for a big camping party this summer. I got laughed at at first but the girls loved it. I even tried it out. The price is right. You put their double layer bags in there and the bucket doesn't even get wet.

Re: ICW without holding tank?
Please let me be serious for a moment and tell you the Porta Pottie is your best choice and make sure your overboard discharge is locked! Just FYI dependent upon the state your in, the fines could exceed $5,000. That's a lot of pooping!

Re: ICW without holding tank?
Whoops, I forgot to mention. I believe only the waters of the city of Key West are a "no discharge" zone. Unless its changed recently the Porta Pottie is OK in other parts of the keys.

Re: ICW without holding tank?
Dealing with 48-person days (12 people over 4 days) of poop is a two-man job:

Re: ICW without holding tank?
Not sure where this so called "poop police" are, but after 30 years out on the water the only time I had my system inspected was on Lake Champlain, I think this thread took the highly dramatized zone.

Well I certainly don't want to end up in an orange overalls and being waterboared!

Re: ICW without holding tank?
Dometic 975MSD (Dometic/Sealand 301197506)
Glorified porta-potty with 5 gal tank and pump out fitting:
Lets you make permanent install with deck fitting for pump out. Got mine on sale and total job including deck fitting was under 150... Replaced the old Groco head and sealed the thru hull. Instant legal anywhere on the cheap.
Offshore I use a 5 gal bucket in the cockpit anyway. Stay at the helm and don't worry about trying to stay on the throne in heavy weather.
