ICW resources?

My wife and I bought a Pearson Rhodes 41. We plan on sailing her from The Chesapeake Bay to Miami. We'd like to take our time along the ICW but our draft is 5'9" and we understand that will rule out parts of the ICW, so I'd like to plan a mixed trip with some ICW and some parts in the Atlantic. I can't seem to find any apps or websites that will help me plan the trip. Any suggestions?

I used the Waterway Guide extensively on the GICW. Found it very useful. Active captain is a good resource as well. Any luck finding FB/forum groups that cover AICW?

Waterway Guide and ActiveCaptain. Also, there's a mile-by-mile cruising guide we've found useful; your search engine will probably find that.

I don't think a 5'9" draft automatically precludes ICW travel... as long as you watch your tides and plan passage segments around that.

The "Skipper Bob" guides are pretty good, in my opinion. You can get them directly from skipperbob.net, or from bluewaterweb.com, which is a charts and equipment store in the Ft. Lauderdale area run by some very nice people.

We draw 5’4” and while we have run aground on the ICW at low tide, it’s never stopped us. We just plow through the mud.
Watch your tides and plan to pass through the thin spots when it’s not dead low. There has been dredging of the worst spots (talking to you McClellenville) and Skipper Bobs routes combined with the ACoE surveys take away most of the excitement.
