ICW hurricane holes Va. and NC

We were about to start our first trip down the ICW leaving from Annapolis. Decided to wait until the storm passed. Looking thru the reference books we have it doesn’t look like there are any spots before Albamarle Sound. Anyone know of any hurricane holes after Norfolk?

Not sure what you mean. Every Marina and Anchorage from Norfolk to the Sound by both the east or west route would be considered sheltered. On the East route everything between the locks is a also immune to storm surge. Atlantic Yacht Basin for example would be a great location. So would the ditch along the swamp. Ian is only bringing 30 mph wind here so really could even anchor at Old Point Comfort in Hampton or Crawfish Bay across from Norfolk in Portsmouth.
