ICW flooding impacts?

We are about two days away from entering the ICW heading south from Virginia. With all the recent flooding further south, we are wondering if anyone has any websites, resources, links, we could use to find out about conditions along the route, ie, floating debris, missing markers, etc.

Re: ICW flooding impacts?

We update our site constantly with new info. I’m currently working on a new post – waiting on a few more reports, but the locks are operating, lots of debris reported in NC, but not so much in SC (go figure). I’d suggest waiting a few days somewhere you like and give NC time to flush out. I’ll post my article link here once I’m done.

Posted, but I’ll probably be updating it as I get more info: Use extreme caution on Chesapeake and ICW - or stay put! located in Chesapeake & Delaware Bays | Waterway Guide News Update

Re: ICW flooding impacts?

Another reason to forego the ICW after Morehead City and head outside. That’s what we’re planning to do.

Re: ICW flooding impacts?

Keep in mind that, by then, a lot of that crap might be floating in the ocean! (along with all those shipping containers?)

Re: ICW flooding impacts?

Good point, Mike. But I'd rather take my chances than go through some of the worst parts of the ICW (Bogue Sound, Topsail, Beaufort, SC, etc.), imo.
