Hi Paulie, lots of useful comments for you here. I have cleaned 1000’s if Sails via the Vacuwash system in Australia, and I can tell you that bleach is fine to use on polyester, but Best left to have it done by a professional. In the US you can get it done at Sails Support systems in Porthsmith NH. It is nylon (spinnakers), and Kevlar (not used much anymore) that are no no’s with bleach.
If doing DIY, then the longer you soak the better, and no hard scrubbing. Anything from an animal or mildew will come out 100%. Good luck
