How to clean this with a picture?
I’m a new live aboard. I love a super clean boat. How can I get up dirt from a not smooth surface on fiberglass? I’ll link a picture and thank you to anyone who replies! If this didn’t work I’ll try and reload the photo. Thank you everyone who contributes to this forum.

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
I generally use deck cleaner applied directly with a brush, then microfiber. Happy with the results.

Sometimes I think just use bleach. I just don’t know how bad that will be for the pump. Pumping it over. But Jamme ty! I look your stuff up.

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
Hi, Sam,
I'm an oldie, but what I would do is plug the drain. Put in bleach in a 1:1 strength (which is very strong) and just barely cover the area. Go get a cuppa. So 1/2 hr. later, go look at it. It should be looking a lot better, but if not, give it another 1/2 hr. Then, take a scrub brush and brush it along both the axes of the non skid, so that you scour out the dirt that has been escaping the usual cleaning routine. Pull out whatever you used to plug it, and then flush with fresh water. Imo, thereafter, sponging out the
the shower once a week with a 1:10 bleach solution should keep it clean.
It is important to keep on top of it, and not let it get scummy...or hairy....

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
I agree pure bleach is a lot less work than scrubbing. Run some water to dilute when you wash it out. Same goes for shower trays etc.

If boat deck cleaner does not work try acetone and magic eraser.

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
TSP (tri sodium phosphate) works great, use it like you would bleach. WEAR GLOVES!
Be careful, full strength bleach, or even minimally diluted, can be quite bad for the lungs in that enclosed space. Well diluted is not too bad, but less effective.

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
For small spots we've used bleach but when we're brightening gel coat
we use a weak solution of oxalic acid.
Often listed as wood bleach and found in crystal form at home supply stores.
Oxalic acid is the active ingredient in hull and deck cleaner and a small
fraction of the cost.
With bleach or acid cleaners I'd start with a weak solution and short time
first as both can damage the gelcoat.
Regardless of what you use, don't tie you dink full of gear under the drain
when you pump it out (like I did a little while back)

Re: How to clean this with a picture?
Soft scrub with bleach, stiff brush then magic eraser. Bleach rinse and then flush with fresh water. That will clean most everything, always worked on the agressive Tiara nonskid

Best to dilute it with lots of water before pulling the plug.

Nice to hear that you care Sam!
Same here - we try to run a spotless ship.
That anti-slip moulding can be a little difficult to clean at times, but deck cleaner works very well to bring back to white (the good stuff uses oxalic acid, but most of them work well to remove discolouration).
Certainly avoid anything abrasive, or any solvent such as acetone.
Another tip, is once clean, seal the area with a clear sealant such as is used for cars in the 'wash and wax' type products. It is the porous nature of gelcoat that can make discolouration an issue.
Hope that helps,
David
