It was a brand new boat. I don't think I had ever seen one in the harbor before.

Sea Story was built in 1987, but will only be one year old to us in a few weeks

1982 Cape Dory 33. She was built the same year we decided that we wanted to go cruising someday. She was being built to order just for us, but we didn't know it yet.

The Compass is 31 years old. My last boat was 39 years old when I sold her in 2008. The Compass had a very pampered life. Here she was the day I got her. LOL.

When I got divorced my daughter said I had to observe a rule where I couldn't date anyone younger than 1/2 my age plus 8 years... it was good advice, though I hope it doesn't apply to boats... I love my old girl, but my eyes are starting to wander.

Re: How Old's Your Ride?

I finally get it. All the threads where "new" boats get discussed/trashed I always thought were about boats built from say 2005. Now I know that to 85% here "new" boats means built after 1995 at the latest. And to 60+% to boats built after 1985.
